Bants90 is where football fans react to live matches together. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We have kept it plain, because a privacy policy nobody can read is no use to anyone.
What we collect
- Your account. When you sign up we store your email address, whether you gave it to us directly or through Google, along with the username, favourite club and avatar colour you choose. Your email never shows up in a room.
- What you post. Your bants, reactions and predictions, and the rooms you join. That is the whole point of Bants90, so it lives with your account.
- Your profile photo, if you want one. Adding a photo is optional and you can change or remove it whenever you like. Your phone shrinks and crops it first, which drops everything hidden inside the file, including the place it was taken. We strip the file again on our side, so what we keep is the picture and nothing else. If you remove it, delete your account, or a moderator takes it down, the file itself is deleted rather than just hidden.
- A token so nudges can find your phone. If you say yes to notifications, your phone hands us a token that lets us send a nudge to that one device. It points at the app on your phone rather than at you. It goes when you sign out on that device, and we drop it as soon as it stops working.
- A rough area, only if you ask for it. If you turn on a location lens to find fans near you, your device works out a rough area label, like a country or region, and we store that label with the bant. We never store your precise location, and the lens stays off until you choose it.
- How the app is used. We record a few simple events, like entering a room, so we can tell whether the product works and whether fans come back. This is about the product, not about following you around the web.
- Staying signed in. We use a small number of cookies purely to keep you logged in and your session secure. We do not use advertising cookies or third party trackers.
How we use it
- To run the service and keep you signed in.
- To show you rooms and matches worth your time.
- To keep the place safe by reviewing reports and acting on them.
- To understand whether fans come back for a second match.
- To contact you about your account, like confirming your email or a password reset.
We do not sell your data. We do not run ads. There is no paid tier.
Match information
Bants90 does not broadcast matches and does not write match reports. The scores, goals and cards you see are plain facts from a football data provider. That information is about the match, not about you.
Who helps us run it
We use a small set of trusted companies to run Bants90. They only handle your data to provide their service to us, never for their own purposes.
- Supabase, which stores the database and manages accounts.
- Vercel, which hosts the app.
- DigitalOcean, which runs the service that reads live match data.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Google and Apple, which carry notifications to your phone when you have them turned on.
- Our email provider, which sends account emails like confirmations and password resets.
Our team
A small number of people who run Bants90 can see your account and what you have posted, so we can keep the place safe and keep it working. Every time one of us opens your record we write down who looked and when.
Keeping and deleting your data
You can delete your Bants90 account yourself at any time. Open Settings, tap Delete account, and confirm. You do not need to ask us, and there is no waiting period.
Deleting your account removes your profile, your username, your bants, reactions, predictions, room memberships and your profile photo. The photo is deleted from our storage within the hour rather than simply hidden.
One thing stays, and we would rather be straight about it. If you were involved in a safety report, the record of that report is kept, because a moderation history that disappears when someone deletes their account is not a moderation history. Your name is taken off it, so what remains is the event and not the person. We also keep anything the law requires us to keep, for as long as it requires.
If you want some of your data removed without closing your account, you can remove your profile photo yourself in Settings, and for anything else email privacy@bants90.com and a person will read it.
Everything else we keep only for as long as you have an account.
Your choices
- See and change your profile whenever you like.
- Add, change or remove your profile photo whenever you like.
- Choose which notifications you receive in settings.
- Mute someone for a match, or block them everywhere, no reason needed.
- Turn the location lens on or off whenever you like.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it.
Young fans
Bants90 is not for young children. You must be at least 13 years old to use it. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will let you know in the app before it takes effect. Small fixes, like clearer wording, we may make at any time.
